Materials Needed

  • G crochet hook

  • Medium Weight yarn (4)

    • Green - 7 yards

    • Red - 8 yards

    • White - around 20" of yarn

  • Scissors

  • Tapestry Needle

  • Stuffing

Abbreviations

  • ch - chain

  • dc - double crochet

  • dec - single crochet decrease (see special stitches)

  • f/o - fasten off

  • hdc - half double crochet

  • inc - single crochet increase

  • sc - single crochet

  • slst - slip stitch

  • st(s) - stitch(es)

Special Stitches

Decrease (dec)

Insert your hook into the front loop of the next two stitches sequentially, yarn over, pull through 2 loops (pull through the front loops), pull through 2 loops (finishing the single crochet).

Additional Notes

You don’t necessarily need to have medium-weight yarn, but know that using smaller yarn will make the car hanging smaller and may make it unable to fit around a car mirror. Therefore, if using a smaller yarn, I would make the chain longer.

Step-by-Step Pattern

Stem

[Create a magic circle. *Ch 3, slst into first ch, then slst into the ring.* Repeat from * to * a total of 5 times, creating leaves for the strawberry.] F/o.

Repeat from [ to ] for the second strawberry, not fastening off. Ch 60, then slst into the first magic circle created (strawberry leaves), f/o.

Leaves

Ch 16. Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook, [*sc, hdc, dc 3 times, hdc, sc*, slst (top of the first leaf). Ch 1, repeat from * to * (top of the second leaf)].

Now repeat from [ to ], going into the bottom of the ch stitches.

F/o and weave in ends.

Using your crochet hook, place your hook underneath the chains made in the middle of the leaves, and pull the stem through just a bit, leaving a loop.

Strawberries (x2)

Strawberry

Row 1: Create a magic circle using the red yarn, and place 8 sc in the circle. (8)

Row 2: Inc in each stitch around. Do not hide the yarn end from the magic circle - keep it in the middle of the sphere. (16)

Row 3: Sc in each stitch around. (16)

Using your crochet hook, insert your hook into the center of the magic circle, and pull the yarn tail from the stem through. Tie the end of the magic circle with the end of the stem to secure it.

Row 4: *Sc 2 times, dec,* repeat from * to * for a total of 12 sts. (12)

Row 5: *Sc, dec,* repeat from * to * for a total of 8 sts. (8)

Add stuffing to the strawberry.

Row 6: Dec for a total of 4 sts. (4)

F/o leaving a 3" tail. Weave the end into the 4 sts closing it off, tie a knot, and hide the end.

Seeds

Cut around 10" of your white yarn and thread it through the tapestry needle. Embroider 4 seeds on the strawberry by inserting your needle into the strawberry, leaving a tail. Then, work the needle to a spot where you want the seed, and then insert the needle back into the strawberry one stitch away. Repeat until you have around 4 seeds. Then, work the needle to where you first inserted you needle, tie the two ends together, and hide your ends into the strawberry.

Final Touches

And just like that, you’re done! I really hope that you enjoy this pattern. I'd love it if you tagged me in the finished product @mae.crochets on Instagram! Happy crocheting!🍓
