This pattern dynamically calculates the rows and stitches based on your inputs into the PDF. In order for the pattern to work correctly, you will need to open the pattern in Chrome when on your computer, and Adobe Reader (free app!) when on your phone.
 
The Universal Pet Sweater Pattern is a Mae to Measure pattern that lets you make a pet sweater that fits your pet’s measurements and your style choices without you having to do any of the shaping math yourself. You choose the ribbing stitch, the body stitch, your preferred ease, and the PDF handles the calculations and construction so you can make something custom without any guesswork. The pattern works for crochet, Tunisian crochet, or knit, and it’s designed to fit any pet with a general dog/cat-style shape (four legs down, larger ribcage, etc.).
 
This sweater is worked top-down, starting with the collar. You’ll construct the section that sits between the front legs, then work the body by increasing around to fit the ribcage. Next, the body is joined with the between-the-legs section to form the mid-body, and then you’ll work just the back by decreasing to your desired length. There’s no fabric that comes down over the arms/legs on purpose, so that your pet gets the maximum mobility.
 
You’ll input your pet’s collar-to-tail (or desired length), ribcage circumference, head circumference, distance between the front legs, collar length, ease, and a custom ribbing gauge and custom body gauge. If you want an estimated yardage/meterage, you can also include the yarn info, and the PDF will calculate an estimate based on your inputs.

A Mae to Measure pattern is an interactive, PDF pattern that calculates the number of stitches, rows, and yardage for a pattern. The benefit of a Mae to Measure pattern is that it makes your pattern size inclusive to virtually any body size (or pet size!) This is done by allowing the user to type in their pet’s measurements into the pattern. Then, in the background, the pattern will calculate all the math within the pattern to fit the pet perfectly.
